In this modern world, with those everblooming innovations and never relapsing technologies, humans are relishing the fruit of comfort and ease under Science and Technology. But the exasperating aspect of Waste management still prevails. Even though landfills, incineration, open pits provide solutions, the endurance of these solutions still stands unanswered. Hence comes the modern-day savior "Zero waste".
"Zero waste" is a set of principles advocated for waste elimination through proper recycling and reusing waste. The idea is to reduce the number of waste subjected to waste management through reusing and recycling. In this system, a manufactured product is subject to maximum usage until an optimum consumption. It follows a cradle-to-cradle idea rather than the conventional cradle-to-grave(waste management). In cradle-to-grave, materials are manufactured and utilized. The occurring waste is disposed of or incinerated. But the cradle-to-cradle system primarily focuses on closed-loop cycles of materials wherein a material is manufactured, reused and, waste eliminated to the utmost extent.
The zero-waste framework can bring in economic well-being, ecological stability, environmental protection, and increased efficiency since waste generation always projects inefficiency in production.
To sum up, a zero-waste strategy is one of the pivotal keys that can ensure sustainability and up-gradation in resources for the present and future generations.
